I'm so glad you are here. My name is Lea Ann Lafave. I am a LPCC for the state of Kentucky. Because there is no one type fits all therapy, I customize my treatment plans to meet your needs and goals. I enjoy working with individuals in helping them reach their full potential and live the life they deserve. Healing is a journey and I would love to be a part of your journey.

I am a native of Kentucky, born at Fort Knox and raised in Radcliff. As a military wife, I have lived in many places in the United States. I am a mother and grandmother who understands how difficult parenting can be.

I graduated from University of Phoenix for my undergraduate degree and Walden University for my graduate degree. I have additional training with a certification in EMDR, Brainspotting, Sandtray Therapy and Personality Disorders. I am currently in the process of becoming a Register Play Therapist. I am also trained in DBT, Theraplay, and Parts and Memory Therapy.

EMDR

EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neuro-physiological sources of emotional and physical pain, and unhealthy coping mechanisms associated with PTSD. It allows the client to channel the healthy "head" knowledge they possess to transform debilitating traumatic memories and the negative beliefs they feel in relation to the incident.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others

Play Therapy

Play Therapy is defined by APT as “the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained Play Therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development."
